Windows and doors present a challenge in the natural settling process of a log home. At Leatherwood we offer a unique method of dealing with settling based on a maintenance free system we designed in the late Seventies.

We provide an “L” lip on the inside to allow the trim board to slip upwards past the vertical face of the log. On the outside we provide a slot that accepts the trim board yet prevents the infiltration of moisture, even from driving rains. This system eliminates the necessity of removing and shaving down the trim boards, a practice common in the industry.

Additionally, we often supply heavy timber windowsills composed of durable 4" x 18" cedar and, when required, complete timber jamb systems.
